Let’s Go To The Beach, Each Let’s Go Get Away by H.Chisholm

Ready to soak up the rays of summer, feel the sand between your toes, and the salt in your hair? It’s about that time when the beach is the main attraction in Los Angeles. WIth hundreds of beaches to choose from the possibilities are endless. My favorite beach to go to is Manhattan Beach. The city charges for parking with a two hour limit, but it is well worth when you experience the beach beneath the pier! Whenever I go to the beach I sit to the left or south of the pier! The area to the North of the pier is blocked off for surfing so if you are planning on going in the ocean you should choose the South side. The sand is so soft, and the waves (when they aren’t too big) are so fun to splash around in! You are just steps from the main streets in Manhattan if you want to grab a quick bite to eat as well! Another amazing beach in LA is the beach in Malibu. A short drive up Pacific Coast Highway or Highway 1 will land you among some of the most beautiful beaches in the whole world! Parking is free in Malibu, but you will have to find a tricky spot along the highway! You are likely to see some marine life when you are on the beach in Malibu, and you are sure to see some talented surfers to entertain you! A couple other choices are Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica, Venice, Playa Del Rey, and Redondo Beach. All vary in forms of parking, but you will find yourself in the Pacific Ocean no matter where you go!

Next Stop: Venice Beach by H. Chisholm

If you haven’t been to Venice Beach yet, you’re in luck! Venice Beach located just north of Marina Del Rey and south of Santa Monica is home to the wackiest people you will ever see. The Bohemian vibe fosters the artists soul & the nomadic lifestyle. Stroll down the boardwalk and you will run into the world’s tannest body builders, the craziest sales people, and just a few people who happen to be in their own little world. Not to mention, you are just steps from the sand and the beautiful beach! Venice is home to a very large homosexual community so you are sure to find someone ready to tell you everything you need to know! Every other store is a “green doctor” dispensing marijuana for “medical” purposes, but hey, if that’s your style more power to ya! Venice Beach is sure to supply you with the best people watching in all of LA, and you might just run into an a-list celebrity since so many choose to live in the Venice Canals. The canals are just a couple of blocks from the boardwalk, and they are a great, quiet place to enjoy a morning walk! If you are into all different types of architecture you should take a stroll along the canals just to see the amazing works of art people call their homes. Venice is also home to some really amazing cafes and book stores if you find yourself soul searching in this part of town. My favorite restaurant in Venice is C&O’s Trattoria at the very end of Washington Blvd off of Lincoln! It is right at the Venice Pier and offers the best Italian food in town with an authentic experience. The garlic balls that you are given when you are seated are sure to spoil your appetite for dinner because they are just too good, but the entrees are to die for! Some point during your dinner you will find yourself singing “That’s Amore” with your fellow diners! This restaurant is a good time and a good meal! Now, you have plenty of reasons to make a trip down to Venice Beach; Enjoy!

Santa Monica Pier by H.Chisholm

Next time you have a free Friday night consider visiting the world famous Santa Monica Pier. Featured in movies, art, and things of that nature Santa Monica Pier is an LA Icon. I advise you to visit at night because the pretty lights are the best part! The ferris wheel lights up the ocean below with colors of every shade! The arcade games are sure to not let you leave without a prize, and the roller coaster is the climax of the thrill. Make sure you indulge in the sweet treats of a carnival, and spend some time simply walking along the pier over the pacific ocean! Not only, is it beautiful, but it is free to go to the pier! The individual rides and games will cost you a minimal fee, but the stroll on the pier is priceless! This is a great place to go on a first date, or to spend a night with a visiting friend! You are just steps from 3rd Street Promenade where you can spend the rest of the night shopping! Santa Monica Pier is located on Ocean Blvd. You can’t miss it! Enjoy the experience and feel like a child all over again!
